How to Stay Active in the Heat: Summer Fitness Tips

1. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!
Summer heat means you lose more water through sweat. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated before, during and after your workout. You can also add electrolytes to your drink if you're sweating heavily.
2. Workout in the Early Morning or Late Evening
The midday sun can be brutal, so try to get your workout in early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are cooler. This also helps avoid heat exhaustion.
3. Wear Light, Breathable Clothing
Choose lightweight fabrics that allow your body to breathe. Avoid dark colors that absorb heat, and opt for light-colored, loose-fitting clothes to keep cool.
4. Mix Up Your Routine with Outdoor Activities
Take advantage of the great outdoors! Try activities like hiking, biking, swimming or kayaking. These exercises can be more enjoyable in the summer and give you a refreshing change from your usual gym routine.
