July is Social Wellness Month, a dedicated time to foster meaningful connections, strengthen support systems, and improve overall well-being through healthy relationships. Summer is the perfect time to relax, reconnect with those around you, and strengthen your relationships. Here are some ideas for you to try!
Relax:
Take a walk and enjoy the fresh air
Sit on the beach and listen to the waves
Read a book outside in the sunshine
Try a short outdoor meditation or deep breathing exercise
Have a picnic in a park
Listen to music or a podcast while lounging outside
Do some light stretching or yoga in the sun
Watch a sunset or sunrise
Reconnect:
Call a friend you haven’t spoken to in awhile
Meet up for a meal or a coffee date
Spend quality time with loved ones
Write a handwritten note to someone and deliver it
Organize a small get together or game night
Share a memory or old photo with a friend
Invite someone to join you for a walk or activity
Revisit a favorite spot you used to go to with someone
Strengthen:
Plan outings with friends or coworkers to strengthen bonds
Join a group that shares your interest - book club, sewing circle, bowling team
Start a weekly or monthly hangout tradition - It encourages you to get out and see your friends
Volunteer together for a shared cause
Celebrate milestones or small wins together
Try something new as a group - class, sport, hobby
Be fully present - put phones away during conversations
Practice gratitude - regularly tell people what they mean to you
Often we find ourselves so caught up in the busyness of our own lives that weeks and months pass before we get around to meeting up with a friend for dinner or returning a call. As the days grow longer and the sun shines brighter, take this as your reminder to pause, pick up the phone and make time for meaningful moments with the people in your life.
