Although International Mind-Body Wellness Day was January 3rd, I wanted to write about the importance of our mind and body wellness. Our mind, body, and soul connection play a vital role in our overall health and wellness. It is the reason that Mind-Body Wellness Day falls at the beginning of each new year to remind everyone to be their best selves. Continue reading to find out ways to do just that!
Find relaxation techniques that work best for you. Relaxing the mind and body can help ease stress that you may be feeling. Some popular relaxation techniques include meditation, yoga, deep breathing, and aromatherapy. Exercise or regular physical activity is another easy way to promote brain health, weight management, disease reduction, and the ability to do everyday activities. Exercise paired with a healthy diet and hydration is a great way to keep your mind sharp and your body strong (Marine Corps Community Service, 2022).
Creating a daily self-care routine is also a great way to be your best self. Whether it’s waking up every morning and making yourself a fresh cup of coffee or reading your favorite book in a bubble bath before bed. Keeping up with a self-care routine has been clinically proven to reduce or eliminate anxiety, depression, stress, and increase happiness (Mental Health First Aid USA, 2022). As the new year continues keep working on your mind-body wellness and being the best you, you can be!
