Appreciating Our Valleys

Often times when we are in our valleys we feel very alone, we feel as if we are not going to make it or worst as if God has forsaken us... Now, I have been through my fair amount of valleys and not once have I thought "Man this valley is awesome!" or being on my mountain top thought "Wow, I can't wait to get back down into that valley!" Oh but today I am going to ask you one thing and that is to start appreciating your valleys. I know you must be thinking this woman has lost her mind! How can one appreciate being in a low place?... Well, let me ask you, what is the definition of a valley?

One definition states this, a valley is " a low area of land between hills and mountains, typically with a river or stream flowing through it." This tells me a few things, there are hills and mountains in my future, that I MUST get to. Additionally, because they are there, there has to be a way to get to them. It also tells me that I WILL survive because I have a least one river and one stream that will give me water. If nothing else our bodies need water to survive we can live for at least 40 days without food but water, water we need. Therefore, with a river or stream flowing, I MUST survive. You WILL survive. The important think to note is this, it did not just say a river or stream, but a FLOWING river or stream.

Consider this, in our moments of our greatest lows there is always an escape and though sometimes it may take us awhile to find it, there are provisions that are in our lows, if we only take the time to see them in the midst of it.

Our minds, bodies and souls all have a great potential to grow or decline. Think on that....
